September 2026 - Storms, Project Updates, Local Talent, and Sap Removal
Vol. 1, Issue 9
Top Highlights
๐ Monthly Fire Alarm Testing ๐
The new fire alarm test should be on September 14th. Expect 2-5 minutes of alarms in the morning and all hallway doors to close. You do not need to leave at this time.
๐ ๏ธ 216&218 Balcony Update ๐ ๏ธ
Currently, all 216/218 Balcony's are closed until further notice. See more under projects below!
๐ Local Meetup Success ๐
There was a meetup at Montanas for neighbours to get together and chat. It was a huge success! It was such a blast and so nice to chat with people. The next meetup is on September 8th @ 6pm at the Park/Playground. Come grab a cookie and either stay and chat, or simply head out after saying hi!
๐ง๏ธ Recent Storm ๐ง๏ธ
The recent storm did a number on our area. A few pieces of the fence blew off into cars, trees were broken and downed, we got hail and intense water. A big shoutout to all the resident's who went out and helped such as clearing the storm drains flooding the area. Shoutout to the worker crews who got our trees safe the very next day. This is a good reminder to always have a plan for storms - food, water, flashlights, etc.
A Gentle Tribute

Some dogs come into our lives and leave paw prints on our hearts forever. Dante was exactly that kind of soul. He brought so much light and joy to his momโs life, loving her just as fiercely as she loved him. Run free, beautiful Dante. You were the very best boy.
๐ We Have A Local Author - Let's Show Our Support ๐

I am always amazed at what wide range of talent we have in our community and today we highlight an Author. You may all know her as, Jennifer. Here is a short piece about Jennifer that captures her talent and goal well:
"Jennifer M. Burke is a wildlife artist and children's book illustrator who only recently learned about CAPD-right before being diagnosed with it! As a long-time disability and neurodiversity advocate, she wants to help raise awareness around CAPD so that no child has to struggle to understand without the words to explain what's wrong, and so people with CAPD and their peers can better understand how these particular differences work.
Jennifer has been in love with reading and with writing for a very long time; though this is her debut in publishing, she's got more stories in her. She's a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Canada East." (Grabbed from Amazon)
There are numerous ways you can show support and share Jennifer's message. The image shows book signing dates* and locations which you could attend, buy it and review it, or you can share her book.
I look forward to seeing what comes next for Jennifer! Amazing work and thank you for helping people out.

Project Updates
Current Projects
216 Ramp
There is no update since last edition - There are areas that seem incomplete, or in need of touch-up but no news about this currently.
216/218 Siding (East Side)
Work is furiously underway as 216 siding looks essentially done and 218 has a lot of theirs ripped off and much of it replaced now. Currently, this is just the East side (facing the wooden fence). The Balconies will be talked about below.
216/218 Balconies
All 216/217 Balconies have been blocked off. From the siding project it was determined the balconies need to be investigated to ensure they are safe. The study was planned to be completed roughly 3 weeks from the notice of shutting the balconies down. That time has passed but it has not been stated if the investigation was completed. There is no known date when we will know more. In theory, once the study is done, it needs to be reviewed and next steps decided on. It has been said that balconies deemed safe, can re-open.
216/218 Door FOB's?!
There is still no confirmation from the last edition - we still have not been told what the new electronic pads are for, or when they will be activated.
216 Accessible Button
A new accessibility button to exit the rear entrance of 216 (the new ramp) has been added and activated! You can now press the button on your way out to open the door.
212/214 Firepanel Changes
A change was done to the 212/214 firepanel. As a result, the in-unit inspections for fire alarm testing was done earlier than usual.

๐ฆ Turkey Contest Winners - And Injury Update ๐ฆ

What a fun contest that was held on the FB Group! The goal was simple, name that turkey! A turkey was spotted around our grounds and what better way to bring people together than to decide it's name? You all voted and settled on: Gretchen.
Congrats to all the winners! We gave away awesome glasses with a strawberry pattern, a bluetooth retro looking speaker, and a Bulk Barn gift card!
In related news, Gretchen has been spotted limping. She may need some help and here is what a resident found for information of getting that help: I have called the Wild Bird Sanctuary, and they are able to take her between 8am-5pm if anyone can catch her. She is faster than she looks!
Removing Tree Sap from Your Car
We live in Viewmount Woods, and with that sometimes comes sap on your car. If youโve noticed some sticky spots lately, hereโs a quick and relatively safe way to remove it.
(A quick note: There are many ways to accomplish this, and you can modify the technique depending on how much you care about the finish. If you aren't worried about minor scratches, you can skip the first wash. If shine isn't a big deal, feel free to skip the waxing at the end. And if your only goal is removing the sap and you don't care about scratching the paint at all, then just go to town!)
- Wash the car: Start with a wash to clear away any loose dirt. The gas station at the corner has a good quick wash that will do perfectly in a pinch!
- Soak and apply: Take cotton balls and soak them in isopropyl alcohol. Place them directly onto the sap spots. As long as it isn't too windy out, they should stick right to the paint.
- Let it sit: Leave them on the spots for about a minute. Then, gently move the cotton balls around using no real pressure (let the alcohol do the job).
- Wipe away: Remove the cotton ball. If there is still sap left, you can repeat the process, but you can likely just apply a bit more alcohol and gently wipe the rest away.
- Wash and wax: Afterward, give the car another wash to remove any sap residue. If you can, give it a good coat of wax to help prevent sap from sticking as aggressively next time.
Pro-tip: If you hit the sap sooner, it will be much easier to remove. If you let the sap sit too long, it can actually etch into your paint, and then you are looking at needing professional paint correction.
